IST IMPROVER SCAFFOLDER

This programme is aimed at IST New Entrant Card Holders who have completed more than 6 months onsite experience and are looking to further develop their scaffolding skills and knowledge.

Objectives

This programme will provide the candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding structures of an intermediate level of complexity to internationally recognised standards.

Progression

The IST Improver card will be valid for 3 years and cannot be renewed. Candidates holding the Improver card must complete more than 12 months onsite experience before progressing to Scaffolder training and assessment.

• Materials and component identification and selection (material lists)
• Manual Handling
• Fall prevention/Fall Protection
• Safe use of a Safety Harness
• Safe access/egress methods
• Interpretation of drawings
• Risk Assessment and Method Statements
• Basic Skills Assessment
• Bridging with Beams
• Protection fans
• Birdcage
• Staircase
• Skills Test
• Knowledge/Behaviours Test (80% to pass)
• Both must be completed satisfactorily for the candidate to pass the course.
